Reading Recovery
Reading Recovery is a targeted program for first-graders who need supplemental instruction in reading. The program consists of one-on-one tutoring by highly trained Reading Recovery teachers. The students receive a 30-minute lesson each day for 12 to 20 weeks; each lesson is tailored to the student’s reading and needs. After a full series of lessons, some 74% of students achieve grade-level standard.
The Reading Recovery teachers achieve remarkable results because they have been trained in both theory and practice. Reading Recovery teachers are part of a literacy network of universities, teacher training sites and schools. Our Reading Recovery teachers at Oldham County Schools are highly trained and credentialed.
