Welcome, Superintendent Herald
On Wednesday, June 4, the Oldham County Board of Education approved a four-year contract with Claudette Herald to serve as the next superintendent of Oldham County Schools.
Herald brings over 16 years of leadership experience in public education, most recently serving as Deputy Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, and Director of Pupil Personnel for the Grant County School District in Kentucky. In this role, she has overseen vital student services, including attendance and home/hospital instruction for students facing health challenges. Prior to this role, she was a high school principal for 8 years.
Her work has extended beyond instruction and into school safety, where she serves as the District Safe Schools Administrator. Additionally, Herald has led efforts in federal program compliance and served as the district’s Homeless Liaison and Foster Care Liaison — demonstrating her commitment to supporting every student, regardless of circumstance.
“Ms. Herald impressed us from the very beginning,” said Board Chair Carly Clem. “We were impressed with her evident work ethic, commitment to students and all staff, alignment with our strategic plan and goals, her structure in protocols and discipline, transition strategies and so much more. We are so excited to have Ms. Herald join our OCS team and look forward to continuing on the right track with her.”
Herald earned her Master of Science from the University of Kentucky and her Rank I certification from Eastern Kentucky University. She and her husband reside in Dry Ridge with their two sons, Lincoln and Luke.
Her four-year contract includes a base salary of $205,000.
Please join us in welcoming Claudette Herald and her family to Oldham County. We appreciate the community’s support and patience throughout this selection process.
