November Ignite Passion Winners - Lillian Davis, Gail Sowell, Amie Dennison, and Carter Kelly

This month, the Board recognized Ignite Passion Award winners from OCHS, Arvin, Buckner Elementary, and La Grange Elementary.

Arvin - Lillian Davis, Teacher

Pun intended—Lillian is truly on fire for inspiring the next generation of fire industry professionals. She has embraced the Arvin culture as though she’s been part of it for years, showing deep care for her students and their opportunities. Lillian’s commitment to helping students thrive—both in the classroom and as members of the community—shines through in everything she does. Although this is just the first year of our partnership, we are confident that under Lillian’s leadership, the fire science program will continue to grow and never be extinguished.

OCHS - Gail Sowell, Instructional Coach

OCHS proudly recognizes Gail Sowell with the Ignite Passion Award for her exceptional dedication as Instructional Coach, where she consistently puts student needs first by providing accessible, hands-on support to teachers—listening to concerns, brainstorming solutions, modeling strategies in real-time, and co-teaching lessons rather than simply directing from the sidelines. Ms. Sowell has spearheaded literacy initiatives that have fundamentally strengthened instructional practices across the school, supporting teachers through implementation and creating a ripple effect that improves learning outcomes for all students while building a lasting culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.

Buckner - Amie Dennison, Office Manager

Office Manager Amie Dennison exemplifies what it means to ignite passion within the Buckner Elementary community through her tireless dedication to ensuring teachers and students have the support they need to succeed—working behind the scenes to keep classrooms covered by maintaining strong relationships with substitutes, patiently guiding parents through Online Registration, and serving as a vital communicator between the school and greater community. Her commitment, kindness, and enthusiasm make her a catalyst for positivity and connection, inspiring those around her to bring their best every day and making Buckner a stronger, more passionate school because of her influence.

La Grange Elementary – Carter Kelly, STC, Teacher

Carter Kelly exemplifies what it means to ignite passion in education through his tireless dedication across multiple roles at La Grange Elementary—serving as an STC, 3rd grade teacher, after-school Leopard Spot leader, and Technology Club sponsor, where he empowers students with real-world troubleshooting skills, confidence, and teamwork experience. His patience and expertise make him an invaluable resource as staff seek his help daily for technology support, and his commitment to excellence extends beyond education through his proud service in the Air Force Reserves, his pursuit of multiple degrees, and his ability to build meaningful relationships with students.
