January Ignite Passion Award Winner - Sarah Neal, Kenwood Station Counselor
Sarah Neal exemplifies what it means to ignite passion in education. As a school counselor at Kenwood Station Elementary, Sarah consistently places students’ needs at the heart of every decision she makes. Her compassion, dedication, and tireless advocacy create a safe and supportive environment where every child feels valued and supported.
Ms. Neal leads Kenwood Station's Student Leadership Committee, giving students meaningful opportunities to grow as leaders and take pride in their school community. Through her vision and collaboration, she has also brought the entire school together with the creation of their new common-area Clip System, which recognizes classrooms for following expectations and celebrating positive behavior. This initiative has strengthened school culture and a sense of unity, responsibility, and fun across all grade levels.
Sarah serves as Behavior Intervention Lead, providing support to both staff and students. Her expertise, patience, and problem-solving approach help ensure that challenges are met with understanding, consistency, and effective strategies that truly make a difference.
In addition, Ms. Neal is leading the planning and implementation of the first-ever KSE Culture Night for families, an event designed to bring our school community together, celebrate diversity, and strengthen family-school connections. Everyone is excited about it. Her leadership in this initiative reflects her deep commitment to building relationships and creating inclusive experiences for students and families.
Sarah Neal’s passion, leadership, and commitment shine through everything she does. She is not only an outstanding counselor but a cornerstone of our school community, and she is deeply deserving of the Oldham County Schools Ignite Passion Award.
