Prerequisite: A in English 2 OR passed English 3; Must have qualifying ACT to receive university credit.
*If selected to be part of the JCTC College Core, the JCTC English 101 will meet the English 3 high school graduation requirement.
*Benchmark scores for JCTC College Dual Credit: ACT English 18+ and ACT Reading 20+ or SAT Writing 430+ and SAT Reading 470+Max. GPA: 4.0 Credits: 1.0 semester long course
Course Description: This course focuses on academic writing. It provides instruction in drafting and revising essays that express ideas in Standard English, including reading critically, thinking logically, responding to texts, addressing specific audiences, researching and documenting sources. This course includes review of grammar, mechanics and usage, Notes: (a) credit not available by special examination; (b) English 101 and 102 may not be taken concurrently; (c) AP credit in the English Language and Composition category for ENG 101 awarded as indicated by AP scoring chart in current KCTCS catalog. This course requires On-Demand Writing assessment as part of the K-PREP state assessment accountability for all junior students.
