Benefits Information:
SICK LEAVE
All full-time 9.25 month staff members are awarded 10 days of sick leave. Full-time 12 month staff members are awarded 12 days of sick leave. Days are awarded on July 1st of each school year. Days not used are carried forward to the next school year. There is no cap on the number of days that may be accumulated.
EMERGENCY/ PERSONAL LEAVE
Full-time employees of the Board may receive up to two (2) days (non-cumulative) during any school year for emergency leave for reasons designated by the Board (BP 5050.02) without loss of salary and without affecting sick leave. Emergency leave must be approved by the Superintendent or designee. All requests should be made through the immediate supervisor.
Each staff member may be granted up to three (3) days of personal leave with pay each year under provisions of Board Policy 5050.04. These days are non-accumulative. A request is to be made on a non-sick leave form and submitted to the principal or immediate supervisor.
CONTRACT YEAR
Certified and classified staff salaries are based on salary schedules approved by the Oldham County Board of Education on a yearly basis. The 9.25 month certified and classified personnel receive four paid holidays per year. The 12 month personnel receive 10 paid holidays.
LEAVE DAYS FOR 12 MONTH CLASSIFIED STAFF
All full-time 12 month certified staff members receive leave as determined by Board policy. All full-time 12 month classified staff members receive leave according to the following schedule:
- 0-1 years of employment 10 Days
- 1-6 years of employment 15 Days
- 7 years or more 20 Days
HEALTH INSURANCE
The State of Kentucky provides a health insurance program for each full-time staff member at a value determined by the State each year. The staff member may add their family to this coverage by signing up for a payroll deduction for this purpose.
LIFE INSURANCE
The State of Kentucky provides a $20,000 life insurance policy on each full-time staff member at no cost to the employee. The Oldham County Board of Education provides an additional $15,000 life insurance policy at no cost to the employee. Staff members have an option to pick up additional coverage at their own expense.
LIABILITY COVERAGE
The Oldham County Board of Education maintains an Errors and Omissions and Wrongful Acts liability policy on each employee in the school district.
WORKERS’ COMPENSATION
The Oldham County Board of Education provides a blanket policy that will cover any job related injury for any staff member. This coverage extends to partial salary payment should the period of absence exceed one week away from the job.
UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE
Employees of the Oldham County Board of Education are covered by unemployment insurance should a staff member’s employment be discontinued for other than “for cause” basis.
KENTUCKY RETIREMENT FOR CLASSIFIED STAFF
All full-time classified employees enjoy a very comprehensive retirement benefit program through the Kentucky Retirement System. A deduction for retirement is taken from the employees’ pay each pay period and the Oldham County Board of Education matches this deduction. These contributions are credited to the individual staff member’s retirement account with the Kentucky Retirement System. The employee becomes a vested member after five years of contributions. All classified employees have social security and Medicare withheld from their wages.
KENTUCKY TEACHERS’ RETIREMENT SYSTEM
All full-time certified staff members participate in the Kentucky Teachers’ Retirement System. A deduction for retirement is taken from the employees’ pay each pay period and the State of Kentucky over matches this deduction. These contributions are credited to the individual staff member’s retirement account with Kentucky Teachers’ Retirement System. The employee becomes a vested member after five year of contributions. Certified staff employees covered by Kentucky Teachers’ Retirement System are exempt from paying social security. All certified staff hired after 1987 will have Medicare withheld from their wages.
EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PLAN
The Oldham County Board of Education contracts with an employee assistance program to provide confidential counseling for full-time employees and their dependent family members. The service is free to employees. The service can assist with such problems as marital and family conflicts, depression, relationship issues, anxiety, work related stress, grief and loss, chemical abuse and dependency, adolescent issues, legal or financial difficulties, etc.
