Nutrition & Physical Activity

Oldham County Schools is committed to the optimal development of every student. Good nutrition and regular physical activity before, during, and after the instructional day are strongly correlated with positive student outcomes. The Sponsor believes that we need to create and support health promoting learning environments throughout our agency, giving students the opportunity to achieve success.

The health and safety of students is a priority consideration in all Oldham County School District’s decisions. We are committed to providing educational environments that promote and protect student health, well-being, and ability to learn by supporting healthy eating and physical activity.

To the maximum extent practicable, Oldham County Schools participates in available federal school meal programs including:  

Oldham County School Nutrition

National School Breakfast & Lunch (NSBLP)

Summer Food Service Program (SFSP)

Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)

Seamless Summer Option (SSO)

All school meals will meet or exceed current nutrition requirements established by local, state, and Federal statutes and regulations USDA nutrition standards. In March 2020, due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, USDA provided a waiver to allow Child Nutrition Programs to utilize the Summer Food Service Program instead of the NSBLP This program provides meals for free to anyone 18 years old and younger. This waiver has been extended so that the SFSP program may continue through September 2021.
