Social Emotional Learning (SEL)/
Mental Health Supports
Social-emotional learning (SEL) is the process of developing the self-awareness, self-control, and interpersonal skills that are vital for school, work, and life success. People with strong social-emotional skills are better able to cope with everyday challenges and benefit academically, professionally, and socially.
Oldham County Schools provide students with instruction through the school counseling program and through structured learning opportunities. Oldham County schools use a number of resources to support students’ social emotional learning opportunities including but not limited to:
Harmony Social and Emotional Learning
Character Strong (Overview of Lessons – Middle Schools and High Schools)
Additional supports are provided for students who struggle with emotional/mental health through tiered intervention, the school counseling program, as well as support from the school psychologist or school Mental Health Consultant.
Parents are encouraged to contact their child’s school counselor if they have any questions about supports for their child.
