Purpose: The purpose of the Young Adult Transition Program, YATP, is to prepare students with significant disabilities for their next step in adult life.
Values: Person-centered, independence, self-determination, relationships, happiness
Vision: Students leaving the YATP living a full and meaningful life as productive citizens
Background: Oldham County Schools created the YATP to provide a highly specialized and individualized plan of transition for high school students who have completed the alternate assessment requirements. These students, all having significant cognitive impairment, require an individualized plan of support in order to be successful transitioning from high school into their adult life outside of a traditional high school setting. The program brings together students, who meet this criteria, from all three high schools to a centralized location housed at the Arvin Center.
