KENWOOD STATION ELEMENTARY SCHOOL COUNCIL POLICY
CONSULTATION: KENWOOD STATION SBDM COUNCIL WILL PROVIDE CONSULTATION ASSISTANCE TO THE PRINCIPAL IN SELECTION OF SCHOOL PERSONNEL-5002
||The principal shall inform the superintendent of any vacancy created by resignation or other personnel action of a school employee assigned to his/her school. The superintendent shall be the one to declare a position as vacant.
||Once a certified position has been identified as vacant, either by resignation or a new position, the principal shall develop a set of selection criteria with input from the ad hoc committee. This same procedure shall apply to non-teaching staff such as counselor, assistant principal, and media specialist
|c. Ad hoc Committee
An ad hoc committee shall be formed by the principal. The committee shall consist of at least two team members or staff colleagues working with that vacant position. The committee may screen candidates and may be responsible for facilitating the work of the committee.
Due to urgency or appropriate timing needs, special Council meeting shall be called to consult with the principal regarding school personnel selection on an as needed basis.
|e. Interview Process
The superintendent will provide a slate of candidates for each certified position. The interview process may include the following information on each candidate:
- Professional biographical information (application)
- Review of references
- Results from personal interviews
- Other sources of information relevant to a successful screening process
||The principal shall report to the Council and seek and receive appropriate advice at each regular and special called meeting for the purpose of consultation regardingselection of school personnel.
After consideration from ad hoc committee recommendations, consultation with the Council, the principal shall make the final decision of a recommendation to the superintendent of both certified and classified positions.
