Meet Our Literacy Coach

Amanda Howard

Hello Harmony Family!  My name is Amanda Howard and I am eagerly anticipating this school year as it will be a very exciting educational journey for you, your child, the staff of this school, as well as myself!  This year I will be serving in a different role and will be the school's Literacy Coach!

I just finished my twelfth year in the classroom, as well as, my twelfth year teaching at Harmony.  I was very fortunate to have subbed here at Harmony when I graduated from the University of Kentucky in December 2005.  I was named Teacher of the Year at Harmony Elementary in 2011 and WHAS ExCEL winner in 2015.  I am extremely thankful to be a part of a school that challenges me to be the best teacher I can be. I absolutely love this school and am thrilled to be a part of this amazing team and community!

I have lived in Louisville for most of my life and am very excited to be apart of this growing Oldham County community.  I am the youngest child withfour older brothers and come from a very large, close-knit, extendedfamily - which includes eight nephews and nieces that I spoil regularly.  I graduated from Ballard High School in Jefferson County and then graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education in December of 2005. In May of 2012 I graduated from Bellarmine University with my Master's degree, specializing in Literacy.  In 2017, I continued my learning journey and received my National Board Certification specializing in Literacy. In my spare time I enjoy visiting Starbucks on the regular, taking pictures, painting, reading, hot yoga, watching movies, playing tennis, watching and playing  basketball and just being outside.

I am so thankful to be a part of this amazing community of teachers, staff, students and parents!  Happy to be a Husky!
