Lindsay Kennedy

Lindsay Kennedy teaches the Early Childhood Music Program, and directs the Children's choirs for the Arts Center. She graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Educuation. She has been teaching early childhood music for the past 12 years beginning with the Michigan State University Community Music School.

She also taught early childhood music at MacPhail Center for Music in Minneapolis, Minnesota. While living in Minnesota, Lindsay also taught elementary school music and middle school choir. Lindsay has been involved in teaching music at her church to children ages 18 months-11 years old for five years.

A love for music began early on in her life. She has sung in choirs and played piano since the age of 6. One of her  favorite areas of music education is teaching early childhood music because of the significant effect it has on children early on in their lives. She loves contributing to their early musical development so that they can be successful musicians later on, and find joy in music throughout their entire lives. She finds great happiness in the smiles on each student's face as they play, develop, and grow with their caregivers in this positive, musical learning environment.

Lindsay's love for directing children's choirs began early on in her career.  She has directed choirs in schools and at church.  She loves being a part of helping children to grow as musicians, exposing them to songs of various styles and cultures, developing their ear training and sight singing skills, and helping them to unite their voices in song as part of an ensemble.

Lindsay also finds joy in her family.  She is married and has four children: two girls and two boys.
