Marleen Bailie

Marleen Bailie

Marleen Bailie teaches bagpipes and flourishing tenor drumming for the Arts Center. She has performed and competed solo and with bands on bagpipes since 1996. Shortly after moving to Crestwood, Kentucky in 2004, she and her sons became members of the Louisville Pipe Band, where she has served as its President since 2015. Marleen began teaching at the Arts Center in 2017 and her most proficient students are now performing and competing members of the Louisville Pipe Band. She regularly takes private lessons and attends summer schools with accomplished pipers and drummers in Ohio and Georgia. “I think it vitally important to always be increasing my bagpipe and tenor drumming knowledge to not only improve my technique and musical performances, but to ensure I am competently teaching others.”

Marleen works full-time as an Executive Assistant at EY and when Marleen is not teaching or playing the pipes, she enjoys spending time with her family, her pets, gardening, swimming, and dinner out with friends!
