Comprehensive School Improvement Plan
a. Annual Plan (definition)
The annual Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP) is a plan of action reviewed yearly. The focus of the plan is on continued school improvement that will lead to improved student learning. The plan shall be approved by the SBDM Council prior to posting to the web site by the due date designated by Central Office.
The purpose of the Comprehensive School Improvement Committee shall be to develop and to recommend an action plan to the Council based on a review of the needs assessments in the areas of student support services, effective school resources, reducing barriers to learning, student achievement, and parent and community involvement.
c. Professional Development (definition)
Professional development is defined as experiences provided to the faculty and staff to prepare them to fulfill their responsibilities, and to maintain a focus on the needs and interests of children. Professional development includes both the four (4) days provided by the state and other time provided by the local board of education.
d. Sources of Professional Development Training
The school may contract with individual consultants, participate in district training, use the services of a professional development consortium serving the school district or participate jointly with one or more schools inside or outside of the school district.
The principal or his/her designee shall monitor the use of funds provided by the OCBE for professional development. The council shall approve the budget annually. Expenditures shall not exceed the amount budgeted for professional development.
A copy will be placed on the school website, and a hard copy upon request at the hard copy charge.
The principal is responsible for monitoring the Comprehensive School Improvement Plan and shall develop ongoing reports of how well the school has met each of the objectives set forth in the CSIP Plan. The council shall approve monthly reports. Council representatives shall appear before the OCBE as requested for an annual report on the progress of the school.
