SOMS Vision

SOMS staff and students are exited to be involved in "Pennies for Pencils", a fundraiser to support Wesley Korir's organization "Kenyan Kids Foundation" to help kids experience the power of receiving a "pencil".  The cost of sponsoring a child's high school education for four years ($350 per year) is $1400, so that is our goal!  We want to send one student to high school for all four years!  Please click here to view an informational poster and visit Mr. Korir's website @ to learn more about his foundation.  We will be collecting money through Friday, October 30th.  You can send cash (dig for change in the couch or car seats!), or you can make out a check payable to Kenyan Kids Foundation.  We thank you in advance for your support!  For complete information and a letter from Lauren Rumpel, SOMS Literacy Coach, please click here.

If you are interested in joining the art club, please see Ms. Haan for a membership form.  Art club is open for the first 30 students who return their completed form and $20 membership dues.  Our first art club meeting will start the week back from Fall break on Wednesday, October 28 after school.

Mr. Emerson has graciously offered to host an informal discussion and presentation of the 2015 K-PREP results before the meeting at 5:30.  This is a great opportunity to learn more about Kentucky's accountability system for all schools, and to discuss the goals for SOMS in the current school year.
